Growing Aeonium

Aeonium are a very easy succulent to grow outdoors in areas that get no frost or only very light frost. They may get large fairly quickly, and need a lot of sunlight, so might not be suitable to indoor gardening unless an extremely sunny location is available.

Aeonium is a very easy plant to propogate. You do not have to do much more than stick a branch of this plant in the ground, and it will grow. I have done this were I have prepared the soil beforehand with peat moss and gypsum, and treated the broken end of the branch of the stem with rooting powder, and it was rooted well. However, I have also have had aeonium root where I haven't prepared the soil or branch in the least. I have not tried to grow aeonium from a single leaf, but if you use rooting powder and put it on a very light soil I'd suspect you would have success.

Aeonium Close Up

Aeonium will get fairly large, so it is probably best to plant it towards the back of your landscape. It is also fairly fragile, and will loose leaves or even branches if it is handled much, so it is probably also best to not plant it near a walkway.
