Lindsay Farr's World of Bonsai - Episode 1 in Omiya, Japan This first episode focuses on coverage of the Bonsai Festival in the Village of Omiya, Japan which is held yearly in early May. Lindsay visits with a number of Bonsai experts, and they show off some of their best plants talking about what they have done and how long it has taken. We also visit with a man who shows us the wide variety of Bonsai pots which are available, and another potter who makes his own pots with glazes that he mixes himself. We then see stalls selling the wide variety of tools that are available. Finally, Hiroshi Takeyama, owner of Fuyo-en, does a wonderful demonstration of pruning a trident maple. How to Grow Bonsai Trees : How to Plant a Bonsai Tree This video shows Mike Hansen, demonstrating everything you need to know about planting a Bonsai tree. Mike shows that you need special bonsai soil, how to remove the old soil and prune the roots, placing the tree in the pot, adding soil, adding and trimming the wire, poking the soil down, and soaking the pot. This is an amazingly good instructional video showing a great techniques in just under five minutes. Bonsai Trees - Stunning Examples This is a slideshow of photos of fabulous bonsai trees with soothing music. An excellent mix of types of trees, habits, and pots. Certainly something inspirational for any bonsai enthusiast to see here. Brussel's Bonsai Nursery Brussel Martin narrates a tour of Brussel's Bonsai Nursery located in Olive Branch, Mississippi. Brussel's bills itself as the larges importer and grower of Bonsai in the United States. Something of an advertisement, but you certainly do see a lot of bonsai at this magnificent nursery.
