Limonium is a perennial most commonly with beautiful purple flowers. Limonium is often know by it's common name of Sea Lavender or Statice.

Like most flowering perennials, Limonium prefers a sunny location with well drained soil. Limonium is a salt tolerant plant, and can often be seen living by the seashore. It is also be tolerant of alkaline soils.
I have grown Limonium both in Connecticut and Southern California. It is probably healthier here in Southern California, where you see it growing in many yards and even in areas where it gets no care. Some varieties will not tolerate freezing, so be sure to buy a plant suited to your climate. This can either be done by buying plants from a local nursery, or by ordering plants from a company that verifies it's viability in your area.
