Plants

Annual Flower - A flowering plant that lives in your garden for just one year.

Perennial Flower - A flowering plant that lives in your garden for more than one year, ideally getting bigger each year.

Flower Bulb - A flowering plant with a fleshy root that stores food for the plant during dormancy.

Wild Flower - A flower that is a native non-hybridized species.

Weed - Any plant which you do not want in your garden, particularity if it is invasive.

Supplies

Mulch - A covering for the soil, often wood chips or gravel, that helps keep moisture in and weeds out.

Compost - A nutrient rich additive to soil from the broken down remains of plant material.

Fertilizer - Nutrients for plants, which usually has a label showing the amount of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium as well as other micro-nutrients. Fertilizer can be organic (from natural sources) or not (from synthetic chemical sources).

Tools

Pruner - A cutting device designed to remove stems or other parts of a plant, ideally with as clean a cut as possible.

Saw - A cutting device to remove branches or even large trunks from a plant.

Shovel - A tool to dig holes in the soil.

Trowel - A tool to dig small holes in the soil.
